Marcus Camby still excels at doing the dirty work for the Portland Trailblazers

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 31 January 2012 at 1:35 pm

37-year old center Marcus Camby is only shooting 36.5% from the floor this season, which is pretty awful for a player his size. But, he is still a productive player for the Blazers because of his defense and rebounding. Camby has played in 18 games (all starts) so far this year for the Blazers and he is averaging 23.7 minutes, 3.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.6 blocked shots per game. The Trailblazers will likely monitor Camby’s minutes as he is pretty injury prone due to his age and how hard he plays the game.

The Portland Trailblazers are getting good work from a couple of bench players so far

23-year old small forward Nicolas Batum and 31-year shooting guard Jamal Crawford are giving the Blazers a boost off the bench so far this year. Batum has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Blazers so far this year and he is averaging 24.2 minutes, 11.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.2 blocked shots per game. He is really playing well so far this year for the Blazers. Jamal Crawford is only shooting 37.3% from the floor so far this year, but he has still been somewhat effective. He has played in 5 games (0 starts) so far this year for the Blazers and he is averaging 25.4 minutes, 14.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game. The Trailblazers hope this pair keeps up the good work giving the team an offensive jolt off the bench.

Nate McMillan is doing a solid job for the Portland Trailblazers

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 17 May 2011 at 12:24 pm

46-year old head coach Nate McMillan really has the Trailblazers going in the right direction. The Blazers were 48-34 (58.5%) during the regular season and 2-4 (33.3%) in the playoffs last year. McMillan now has a 246-246 (50%) record during the regular season in his six years in charge for the Blazers. He is also 6-12 (33.3%) during the playoffs in his time with the Blazers. McMillan now has a career record of 458-429 (51.6%) during the regular season and he is 14-20 (41.2%) during the playoffs. The Blazers need McMillan to help them do better in the playoffs, but he is consistently getting them there and that’s a good thing.

Power forward LaMarcus Aldridge is off to a great start against the Mavericks in the first round playoff series for the Blazers.  Aldridge has played in 2 games (both starts) for the Trailblazers so far in this series and he is averaging 42.0 minutes, 25.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 blocked shots per game.  His success should come as no surprise as he had the best season of his NBA career in 2010-11 for the Blazers.
