The Portland Trailblazers aren’t getting much out of their rookies this year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 21 January 2011 at 7:37 pm

21-year old point guard Armon Johnson has been the rookie that has gotten the most P.T. so far this year for the Blazers. Johnson has played in 27 games (0 starts) for the Blazers so far this year and he is averaging 8.2 minutes, 3.2 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.4 assists per game. Johnson has held his own so far but he just isn’t getting much P.T. yet for the Blazers. 21-year old small forward Luke Babbitt hasn’t gotten much P.T. yet this year but that’s partially because he has been awful. Babbitt has played in 13 games (0 starts) for the Blazers so far this year and he is averaging 5.2 minutes, 1.3 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.2 assists per game. Babbitt is only shooting 28% from the floor, 12.5% from three point range and 28.6% from the free throw line so far this year. I don’t see Babbitt getting on the floor much unless the Blazers are blowing someone out or getting drilled themselves. Rookie guard Elliot Williams is out for the season due to injury. He got hurt before the season started.

The rookies aren’t playing much for the Portland Trailblazers

The Trailblazers just don’t have much playing time available for the rookies this year. 21-year old point guard Armon Johnson has played well in spurts. He has played in 23 games (0 starts) so far this year for the Blazers and he is averaging 9.0 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. 21-year old Luke Babbitt is having a rough time this year. He has played in 10 games (0 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 5.9 minutes, 1.5 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Babbitt is only shooting 28.6% from the floor so far for the Blazers and he has already spent some time in the D-League so far. If he doesn’t start playing better soon he will likely find his way back to the D-League.

The Portland Trailblazers send Luke Babbitt to the D-League

Blogged under Comings & Goings, General, Bloglockers, Big Blazers News, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 8 December 2010 at 2:54 pm

The Trailblazers have sent 21-year old rookie forward Luke Babbitt to the D-League. Babbitt has played in 8 games (0 starts) for the Blazers so far this year and he is averaging 3.8 minutes, 0.8 points and 0.5 rebounds per game. Babbitt is only shooting 20% (2 of 10) from the floor and he is 1 of 6 (16.7%) from three point range so far this year. This is a smart move for the Blazers as Babbitt will get some P.T. to refine his game in the D-League.

The Portland Trailblazers don’t have much P.T. for the rookies

21-year old point guard Armon Johnson and 21-year old small forward Luke Babbitt aren’t getting much P.T. this year. Armon Johnson is backing up Andre Miller at the point this year. He has played in 12 games (0 starts) for the Trailblazers so far this year and he is averaging 11.4 minutes, 4.8 points, 1.0 rebound and 2.2 assists per game. Johnson is shooting 52.2% from the floor and 57.1% from three point range so far this year so the Blazers have been pleased with him. Luke Babbitt has played in 5 games (0 starts) for the Blazers so far this year and he is averaging 5.2 minutes, 1.2 points and 0.8 rebounds per game. He will likely need injuries to players ahead on him on the depth chart to get any substantial P.T. this year.

The Portland Trailblazers didn’t use their graduating rookie class much this year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 16 April 2010 at 1:42 pm

Dante Cunningham, Jeff Pendergraph and Patrick Mills all played well when called upon this year but the Blazers didn’t use any of them much. 22-year old power forward Dante Cunningham played in 63 games (2 starts) for the Blazers this season and he averaged 11.2 minutes, 3.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. Pendergraph played in 39 games (4 starts) for the Trailblazers this year and he averaged 10.4 minutes, 2.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game and he shot an amazing 66.2% from the floor! 21-year old point guard Patrick Mills played in 10 games (0 starts) for the Trailblazers this year and he averaged 3.8 minutes, 2.6 points, 0.2 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game.
