The Portland Trailblazers lose Greg Oden for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Blazers News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Tuesday 18 September 2007 at 4:35 pm

The Trailblazers suffered a huge blow as rookie center Greg Oden underwent arthroscopic and microfracture surgery and will miss this whole season.  The Trailblazers will need LaMarcus Aldridge and Channing Frye to step up this season.  The Blazers were going to have these two guys battle it out for the power forward spot but they will likely both be starters now.  Aldridge (6′10″, 245) will probably be the center because he is the better defender of the two.  As a rookie for the Blazers last season, Aldridge played in 63 games (22 starts) and he averaged 22.1 minutes, 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  The Blazers will need him to double those numbers this season.  Frye (6′11″, 248) will likely be the starter at power forward for the Blazers.  He played in 72 games (59 starts) for the Knicks last season and he averaged 26.3 minutes, 9.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  The Blazers will need more than that from Frye if they are going to improve in the win column this season.

The Portland Trailblazers shut down Ime Udoka for the remainder of the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 11:59 am

Ime Udoka will miss the remainder of the NBA season with a knee injury.  He played in 75 games this season and he averaged 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists per game.  He also shot 40.6% from three-point range this season.  Udoka looks like a keeper for the Trailblazers who are a team on the rise.

The Portland Trailblazers lose LaMarcus Aldridge

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Blazers News, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Thursday 5 April 2007 at 3:41 pm

The Blazers have lost Aldridge indefinately with an erratic heartbeat.  He has averaged 22.1 minutes, 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.  It’s a shame that Aldridge has went down right now as the Blazers were starting to give him big minutes and he was producing.

The Portland Trailblazers lose Zach Randolph for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 2 April 2007 at 5:05 pm

Zach Randolph is out for the season after having surgery last Friday to have bone fragments removed from his hand and he also need ligaments repaired.  This is a huge blow to the Blazers as Randolph had a true breakout season this year.  He played in 68 games and he averaged 35.7 minutes, 23.6 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.  Their is no way the Blazers can replace Randolph’s production. Lucky for them that the season is almost over.

Joel Przybilla done for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Monday 5 March 2007 at 1:12 am

Center Joel Przybilla will undergo arthroscopic left knee surgery and miss the remainder of the season.  He played in 43 games this season and he averaged 16.3 minutes, 2.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.  The Blazers won’t miss him too much as LaMarcus Aldridge and Jamaal Magloire will split up the minutes Przybilla was playing.
