Portland Trailblazers 95, Sacramento Kings 88

Brandon Roy and LeMarcus Aldridge led the Portland Trailblazers to a win over the Sacramento Kings last night.  Roy dropped 25 points, 10 assists, and 5 rebounds and Aldridge also had 25 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.  They shot 47% from the field, but Roy and Aldridge didn’t get too much help on the offensive end.  Jerryd Bayless was one of the few who did help on offense, coming off the bench for 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.  Bayless was a much needed spark off the bench, as his aggressive play payed off and he got to the foul line a lot, hitting 8-10.  The Blazers’ defense was pretty good last night, as no Kings player scored 20 points or more.  Tyreke Evans led them with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists while the Kings shot 45% from the field.  The Blazers did a great job defensively in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Kings 29-15 on their way to victory.

Andre Miller should be starting at point guard for the Portland Trailblazers

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to step up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 15 December 2009 at 12:20 pm

I can understand why Andre Miller is so frustrated with the Portland Trailblazers as he is flat out a better basketball player than starting point guard Steve Blake. Miller has played in 25 games (9 starts) for the Blazers this season and he is averaging 27.4 minutes, 11.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game. Miller makes everyone on his team better and it has been that way his whole career as he is a pure point guard. Steve Blake is more of a shoot first type of player and when you are shooting 36.4% from the floor and 34.3% from three point range you are not helping your team. Blake has played in 25 games (all starts) this season for the Blazers and he is averaging 30.5 minutes, 7.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Instead of trading Andre Miller which is being discussed right now the Blazers should do the smart thing and start him at point guard.

The Blazers played hard but they ran out of gas in the 2nd O.T. and it cost them the game. LaMarcus Aldridge led the way for the Blazers last night with 31 points and 11 rebounds. Brandon Roy also had a solid game with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Martell Webster pitched in with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists last night. The Trailblazers are now 14-11 on the year.

The Blazers were outrebounded 40-30 last night and they allowed the Cavs to shoot 54.4% from the floor and those were the two biggest reasons for the loss. Brandon Roy only shot 9 of 25 from the floor but he still finished up with 23 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. LaMarcus Aldridge also had a solid game with 22 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Andre Miller pitched in with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists off the bench. The Trailblazers are now 14-10 on the year.
