The Portland Trailblazers sign Shavlik Randolph

The Trailblazers have signed 26-year old power forward Shavlik Randolph to a 1-year deal. Randolph played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Heat this year and he averaged 11.5 minutes, 1.0 point and 3.5 rebounds per game. He has now played in 91 games (7 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 8.3 minutes, 2.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Randolph is a injury prone player but if he can stay healthy he can help the Blazers.

UPDATE: The Blazers have already waived Shavlik Randolph. Randolph played in 2 games (0 starts) for the Blazers this year and he averaged 2.5 minutes, 2.0 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. It’s possible that the Trailblazers might re-sign Randolph if he clears waivers.

UPDATE II: The Blazers have re-signed Shavlik Randolph to a 10-day contract.

The Portland Trailblazers waive Anthony Tolliver

The Trailblazers have waived 24-year old center Anthony Tolliver. Tolliver only played in 2 games for the Blazers this year and he averaged 2.0 minutes, 0.0 points and 0.5 rebounds per game. He has now played in 21 games (0 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 10.1 minutes, 2.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. The Trailblazers won’t miss him too much as he has shown nothing for them this year.

Jerryd Bayless is showing a lot of potential this year for the Portland Trailblazers

The Portland Trailblazers are very happy with Jerryd Bayless’ play this season. He has played in 26 games (1 start) for the Blazers this season and he is averaging 15.5 minutes, 8.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Bayless’ future is probably at point guard but he will be getting most of his playing time at shooting guard this season due to Andre Miller and Steve Blake being ahead of him on the depth chart at the point.

The Trailblazers shot 52.6% from the floor and it helped them do in the Nuggets last night. Brandon Roy led the way for the Trailblazers last night with 41 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Steve Blake pitched in with 17 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist in only 21 minutes off the bench. Andre Miller also had a solid game with 14 points, 1 rebound and 8 assists last night. The Trailblazers are now 20-12 on the year.

The Trailblazers got an outstanding win last night as they were playing without Brandon Roy and with Juwan Howard starting at center. Jerryd Bayless got a rare start and he responded with 31 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists in 42 minutes on the floor. LaMarcus Aldridge also had a solid game with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals. Juwan Howard got his first start in a long time and he played well finishing with 12 points, 12 rebounds and 1 assist. The Blazers are now 19-12 on the year.
