The Portland Trailblazers have a active bunch of players on the bench
Travis Outlaw will split time at small forward with Martell Webster but he will be coming off of the bench. Outlaw played in 67 games (1 start) last season for the Blazers and he averaged 22.9 minutes, 9.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 1.1 blocks per game. Forward Channing Frye was acquired in the Zach Randolph trade with the Knicks and he will get a lot of playing time this season. Frye played in 72 games (59 starts) with the Knicks last season and he averaged 26.3 minutes, 9.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. Point guard Steve Blake was signed as a free agent to back up Jarrett Jack and he’s a good one. Blake played in 82 games (42 starts) for the Nuggets & Bucks and he averaged 27.1 minutes, 6.4 points, 2.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. James Jones was acquired from the Suns in the off-season and he will serve as the backup shooting guard on the Blazers this season. Jones played in 76 games (7 starts) last season for the Suns and he averaged 18.1 minutes, 6.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Veteran Raef LaFrentz will be the backup center this season and he has some upside as he’s a good outside shooter. LaFrentz played in 27 games (9 starts) with the Blazers last season and he averaged 13.1 minutes, 3.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. Sergio “Spanish Chocolate” Rodriguez will be the #3 point guard for the Blazers this year. He played in 67 games (1 start) last season for the Blazers and he averaged 12.9 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
