The Trailblazers buy Rudy Fernandez from the Suns

Blogged under The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Big Blazers News, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 29 June 2007 at 8:17 am

For the second season in a row the Trailblazers bought a player originally drafted by the Phoenix Suns.  Last season point guard Sergio Rodriguez was bought with cold, hard cash.  This season the Suns drafted Rudy Fernandez with the 24th pick in the first round and sold him to the Blazers.  Fernandez is a shooting guard who has been playing in Spain the last few seasons.  He’s 6′5″, 185 pounds and he can run the floor and is a good shooter.  He has played in 125 games in Spain and he averaged 13.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.2 blocked shots.  Fernandez shot well in Spain as he hit 46.7% from the floor, 36.7% from three point range and 83.4% from the free throw line.  It will be hard for Fernandez to find minutes as a rookie behind Brandon Roy, Stevie Francis and Juan Dixon.
