The rookies of the Portland Trailblazers earn an A

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 21 April 2007 at 12:25 am

The Trailblazers had the best haul of any team in the NBA in last June’s Draft.  Guard Brandon Roy played in 57 games and he averaged 35.3 minutes, 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game last season.  He will be a star on the level of Dwyane Wade in the near future for the Blazers.  F/C LaMarcus Aldridge played in 63 games last season and he averaged 22.1 minutes, 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 0.4 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.  Look for Aldridge to be a dominant player starting next season for the Blazers.  Point Guard Sergio “Spanish Chocolate” Rodriguez played in 67 games last season and he averaged 12.9 minutes, 3.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.  Look for Rodriguez to be a starter soon for the Blazers as he is a marvelous passer.  The Blazers have built a foundation for their future with their outstanding draft of last season.

The Trailblazers finished tied for third place in the Northwest Division with the Minnesota T-Wolves, 19 games behind the Utah Jazz.  The Blazers were 18-23 at home and only 14-27 on the road.  They were 19-33 against the Western Conference and 7-9 against the Division.  The Blazers averaged 94.1 points per game and allowed 98.4 per game.  They limped to the end of the season because of injuries, winning only 3 of their last 10 games.

The Portland Trailblazers shut down Ime Udoka for the remainder of the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 11:59 am

Ime Udoka will miss the remainder of the NBA season with a knee injury.  He played in 75 games this season and he averaged 8.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists per game.  He also shot 40.6% from three-point range this season.  Udoka looks like a keeper for the Trailblazers who are a team on the rise.

Due to the rash of injuries that the Blazers have suffered as of late Jamaal Magloire and Travis Outlaw have been getting increased playing time and they’re both making the most of it.  Magloire has played in 6 games (5 starts) the last two weeks and he’s averaging 10.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.  Outlaw has played in 6 games the last two weeks and he’s averaged 30.3 minutes, 13.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block per game.

The Portland Trailblazers building towards future success

Blogged under Bloglockers, Big Blazers News, Front Page by alleyoop on Sunday 8 April 2007 at 6:16 pm

The Trailblazers have really improved as a basketball team this season despite the fact that they have a 31-45 record on the season.  Zach Randolph really stepped his game up this season and became a legit All-Star player for the Blazers to build around.  Young players Jarrett Jack, Travis Outlaw, Ime Udoka and Martell Webster all stepped up their games this season.  And rookies Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Sergio Rodriguez all look like future building blocks for the Blazers.  Look out for this team in the next couple of seasons.
