The Trailblazers lose a tough one in OT 109-102 to the Suns in Portland

The Suns didn’t have Steve Nash but they were still too much for the young Blazers last night.  Zach Randolph led the way with a great game.  He scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.  Brandon Roy was also very tough on the Suns with 27 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Trailblazers fell to 20-30 on the season with this loss.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270206022

The Trailblazers playing well this season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 6 February 2007 at 2:10 pm

The young Trailblazers are sitting at 20-29 on the season and are only 4.5 games behind the Denver Nuggets for the #8 spot in the Western Conference, which is amazing.  The Blazers are growing up quickly this season as they are 8-5 in games decided by three or less points this season!  The Blazers problem is that they don’t always come out totally focused as they are only 6-17 in games decided by 10 or more points, which makes you think that they give up when they fall behind early in a game.  Still, the Trailblazers are a team on the rise as most of their main players are just kids.  When they all grow up at the same time this team could be a title contender in the not to distant future.

Rookie point guard injured

Sergio Rodriguez is going to be out for a while after severely spraining his ankle.  “Spanish Chocolate” will be missed by the Blazers because he was really steppin’ up and playing well.  Jarrett Jack will have pressure to play big minutes with Rodriguez out.

The Trailblazers played hard tonight but just fell a little short.  Zach Randolph led the way for the Blazers with 27 points and 7 rebounds.  Brandon Roy had a solid game with 16 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists.  Jarrett Jack also had a good game with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.

Trailblazers reaping rewards from fantastic draft

Blogged under Rookie Reports, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 11:19 pm

Last June the Trailblazers kept trading on draft day and they wound up with three very solid basketball players.  The best one so far has been Brandon Roy whose style reminds me of Dwayne Wade when he was a rookie.  Roy has played in 28 games and he’s averaging 32.8 minutes, 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals.  Roy’s hitting 43.6% from the floor but that will improve with experience.

Forward/Center LeMarcus Aldridge will soon be a starter and then look out!   Aldridge has played in 38 games and is averaging 19.4 minutes, 7.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists.  He’s hitting a very solid 48.4% of his shots.

Point guard Sergio “Spanish Chocolate” Rodriguez also looks like a future starter for the Trailblazers.  Rodriguez has played in 41 games and he’s averaging 3.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists.  He’s also shooting well at 45.5% from the floor.
